The Mountain Valley War - by Louis L'Amour
My favorite book of 2012, for sure, and printed first in 1978 I believe.
I was pleased to learn that my Uncle Chick (short for Charles, like me) had
long said that L'Amour was one of his faorite authors - looks like it may
run in the family!
The straight forward prose, and no-nonsense description that is clearly borne
of a lifetime of experience and observation was crisp and refreshing. Thankfully,
he has written a number of books, which I now get to explore! I completely
and totally recommend this book to anyone (why do some people say "I don't like Westerns"??!)
and think that it'll be a quick, fun read you'll enjoy.
