A Matter of Metalaw - by Lee Correy
I made a lot of Estes model rockets as a kid. Apparently, the author
of this book is the founding father of model rocketry! Better known by his
real name of
G. Harry Stine
he apparently wrote a number of sci-fi books under this alternate name. While I was
fascinated to have picked this book up randomly from my favorite sub-shop-used-book-store, and to have
learned all this, I must admit that it was a bit tricky to get through. I'm no great author, or anything,
but it felt sort of how I would write a book (having done so!) - just sort of awkward, and with
explanations in strange places and sort of wacky characters.
Ah well, it's still an interesting and strange
book to have read and helped me learn a little more about a dude who helped found a hobby that I poured
a bunch of my childhood hours into.
