Bud, Not Buddy, by Christopher Paul Curtis
The best book I've read so far this year, and I expect it to stay that way for some time.
I'm especially pleased by this selection, since my daughter pulled it from the shelf while
we were walking through Barnes & Noble, saying that I could read it on the bus. She has fantastic
taste on just about everything, and managed to pick out a real gem! While solidly a YA book, actually
aimed for about age 10, I found it to be a joy to read. The author's compassionate, thoughtful voice shines
through the characters, and the message is one of strength and positivity. I intend to recommend this frequently
and think there is so very much to like in this short but wonderful tale of Bud, Not Buddy.
